What is different about CYWOT?

Growing up we have all learnt to run and swim at some point in our lives.

The difference lies in the type of paddle sport we have chosen amongst the many options available. So we have created an event that balances the speed of each paddling discipline and enables each and every person on the course to race each other over the same race.

Why choose your weapon?

The race has three different disciplines:

  • Run (Beach run)
  • Swim
  • Paddle – Where you will “Choose Your Weapon”

The run and swim courses will be identical for all athletes. The point of difference lies in the course option for your particular weapon.

  • Run: all competitors race over the same course. Approx 6 – 8km
  • Swim: all competitors race over the same course. Approx 1 – 1.2km
  • Paddle: Competitors choose their weapon. Ocean Ski, SLSC Ski, SUP, paddleboard, sea kayak, OC1, Surf boards, nipper boards. The options are endless.

There are three PADDLE courses for this part of the event:

– Course 1: The longest course being for Ocean skis, SLSA skis, sea kayaks and OC1s. Approx 6-8km

– Course 2: The middle distance course will be for SUPs and paddleboards. Approx 3.5 – 4.5km

– Course 3: The shortest course for surf boards under 8ft and nipper boards. Approx 1.8 – 2.2km

Race distances will vary depending on weather conditions.

3 different courses all designed to bring the best out in the ocean going sportsperson.

All the courses will be worked out as close as possible to the maximum speed of each paddle craft.

Competitors can race as an individual or duo completing the whole course or in one of the various team relay options.
